About

The research I am engaged with aims to demonstrate how Anishinaabek science and governance is instrumental in developing a better understanding of canid ecology in the Mnidoo-gamii (georgian bay) region - beyond what is possible using only the tools of western science. Under the leadership of Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory, Magnetawan First Nation, & Shawanaga First Nation, we are combining storytelling, mapping, tracking and genetic sampling to enhance our understanding of canids in support of community-led conservation, with a particular focus determining the presence of Eastern wolves in the region. I am currently co-supervised by Dr. Susan Chiblow & Dr. Jesse Popp (University of Guelph).
